As I posted above, there was a thread from 2013 where you included your email address.  As you can see if you actually look at the thread, I edited it to remove your email address.  I don't know how long it will take for search results to refresh though. 

As to Garden Web, you will need to contact the administrators there to have the posts edited to remove your email address.

Yes, I know I did reveal my address by showing you what is listed on the www under it. I hoped that would be worth doing as there are fewer eyes on here than out in the open.  I am glad you could remove it from the there as well as here.  Thank you.

Diana ... things posted here aren't limited to people reading the posts here ... the search engines like Google are what you need to worry about.  Whatever you post, wherever you post it, it's out there and will be found.

Winchester, that is exactly where I snipped and pasted my name and questions I asked questions on the forum and Landzdown.   I can't make my point as usual but it is on the world wide web and I look for it under my email address. There's only one other place that was not secure and that is a place called GoodReads.  Other than that I think I Corrine is trying to make them vanish.  It is sad to say but on here I am a complete idiot and I think that I have a very hard time with getting my point across? I may not be using the right terminology. However, the security issue that worries me I have recreatedhere. I did this recently here to use as the example of where my address is shown On the www.

The shortcuts that you see are not on my main desktop. They are at the top of my path. I clicked the word Desktop twice and these shortcuts suddenly previewed on the right side.

At the bottom of the preview of shortcuts is the word Defender.  I looked it up and is a security program but nothing I knew about..   

I came here  yesterday and you had numbered the posts, the recent posts that you were answering. I left and came back and I can't find the numbers that you used starting with one then two and so on. But this works fine for me.

I plan to work on computer issues today and the first thing I think I can do is delete those shortcuts(2).  On my column of paths (I don't know what to call this) there are duplicate paths.  Half way down one starting with Diana which I think the troubleshooter renamed as if to start over. I can't do anything with that particular path or the one that is sitting in the recycle bin..I want one path that incorporates the libraries and the  C drive. As for the library I want in my four folders  one topic. In each. One of pictures, one of music, and one of documents.  Having different categories in all locations makes no sense to me and I can't go back and find all of my pictures under pictures. Some are not duplicates and worse some of the pictures are stacked in folders and I want to  remove them from folders.  Otherwise I save something and go after it later like I do here on Landzdown when I browse for captured info and other things I have saved and I don't know what file it's in and I have to start over to find it and write down where I saw it which is not in a place that is obvious to a casual observer.....if there are many, many uses for the libraries I want only the most simplistic use of the file folders like I would have in a file cabinet.....warranties under only documents, pictures under only pictures.  I thought that was the essence of what Microsoft was trying to help us do. Why would this be so complicated for me when I have no need for sub files on the computer or files called public file or public documents in 3 locations.

If I can use my time wisely while I am around during the holiday and be productive in someway that would bring you and me closer together then I will go to my mail.  The problem with my mail is when I send something there's no copy of it on my iPad on my phone or in my PC I can send a copy to myself to make it work.  I was told by I think Comcast that my send things even before this set of problems were not synced because Comcast and outlook should be prioritized the other way. Which ever is the top application should be the bottom one.  My problem though is I can't send or receive mail and I don't get any notice from you in my mailbox that you have left me a post or a message anymore.

You certainly will be thought of on Thanksgiving not only from me but others. I am worn out from this but grateful.  I hate what I'm doing to you and at any point when we just can't get there together I will understand.

Hi, Diana.

1.  When you copy/pasted the information you found searching your email address, you added yet another source for your email address to be public.  However, if you search Google for you email address today, when you click the link to LandzDown Forum, it will take you to here:  http://www.landzdown.com/analysis-and-malware-removal/photo-viewer-has-captured-some-of-my-programs/ .  You can see that it is no longer on that page.  In the hopes of getting the search bots to rescan that page, I've added a new post about updating to remove personal information.  You need to contact GardenWeb Admins and ask them to edit the posts there to remove your address.

2.  Do the cleanup of the garbage first.  See the images in my post at http://www.landzdown.com/analysis-and-malware-removal/cannot-get-mail-%28error-ox800ccc92%29-and-malware-pop-up-messagemalicious-website/msg171443/#msg171443.  Delete those files.  They are all identified as a Shortcut, many duplicated and having (2) in the name.

3.  Have you read the articles I posted above?

I'm posting this separately so it won't get confused with the other information.

The Library stores only the file or folder location.  The file or folder is in ONE place.  It is not duplicated to multiple locations.  In reality, the files are stored in various folders located within C:\Users\Diana\

There is a lot you can do to customize Libraries.  Here's some references:

Include folders in a library also has information at the bottom of the page on how to remove a folder from a library.

4.  Look at the attached snip I took from the image you posted here.  Documents under Libraries is highlighted as is My Documents under Diana.  Both should contain exactly the same files. 

You happen to be the only user of the computer.  What you are seeing under "Diana" is for your account on the computer.  It is set up this way to accommodate multiple-user computers.  The Public folders are so files can be saved there for access by multiple users on the same computer or a family with multiple computers "connected" to the same home network.  This way, documents not shared between other users/computers would go in the personal account (in your case Diana) and documents to be shared between users/computers would be saved to the Public folders.

Unfortunately, Diana was set up by a computer technician who told me this was his way of dividing the former set up of files from the new because of problems.  I agreed and was told to use the files under Diana.  However, it was a quick solution for him and not for me. Add my attempt to get rid of duplicates for about 15 minutes and more chaos ensued when I tried to go back to a start point.
Background ==Best Buy sold me a hard drive (with all the software installed) that was corrupt. After I brought it back and a decent guy from the Geek Squad confronted the manager of the store and the manager of the Geek Squad, who both denied the computer was corrupt, and said they were lying because he looked at the computer before it went out. The crowd of customers cheered. They gave me the last one of this computer and installed software again (that I paid for) and you have been part of the journey since.

Getting rid of shortcuts I see when I double click on Desktop
(refer to the recent picture to the right of the blue computer icon and the word Desktop
I can't do it.  I delete them and another copy comes up.

Another copy of the shortcut shows up because you have multiple shortcuts of the same files -- in fact these are files you should not have shortcuts for on your desktop or anywhere.

Below is a copy of an image you provided last week.  It is going to be an exercise but you will have to individually right-click each and every one of those shortcuts and select delete.

I deleted all of them from the image I sent you and am worried about why they are shortcuts.  I won one battle but there is a desktop in Favorites with the same shortcuts.  Do I empty my recycle bin?

The more I deleted them they came back up noted as a third copy and then a fourth...just not willing to go away.  I have taken them off the real desktop.  I am

It isn't that they are not willing to go away -- rather there are so many duplicates.  Those are the type of shortcuts that are created manually, not the result of a prompt when installing software.  So, I have no idea what you did to create them.  The main thing at this point is to eliminate them.

Diana, you have only one "desktop".  The desktop is what you see when you power up the computer and before you open any programs.  As to seeing "desktop" when you have Windows Explorer open and see it listed in the Favorites Folder, that is merely another way of accessing the files on your desktop. 

In the event you have more shortcuts that you do not need or want, go ahead and delete them.  Just make certain that the file is identified as a shortcut.

As long as you are only deleting shortcuts and can access all of your important files (you haven't inadvertently deleted them), of course you can empty the Recycle Bin.

I am thoroughly going through my Microsoft programs now.  I have not successfully put all pics together.etc..  I have been annoyed for years that things are spread out.  I have no idea either why there are so many duplicates when it is the last thing I want.  I also see the most ridiculous paths. Scary. I feel there is nothing I can do to really organize this. I hope Win 8 gets rid of them whenever I get to that.  Also, would like the pics out of the yellow folders to be able to see them all.  Some are some aren't I don't see any setting that changed. And of course it is not universal.....

I will do Bots when you are ready if you like.  Whining time is over.  Would hope you are doing well with friends and family away from this.
