Have you checked with HP on updated wifi card drivers for Windows 10? (Or 8/8.1 if they don't have 10?) Does it even show up in Device Manager? If it does, does it say it has any issues?

Could try rolling back the update...

Offhand, format and install Windows 7. Do you have recovery media / a Windows 7 install CD/USB?

Out of curiosity, I just checked my WiFi, and fortunately, it's still working.   (I routinely use an Ethernet cable, so I would never have realized if the WiFi "disappeared").
I also did the Win10 update yesterday... so it's not a universal issue impacting all users.   (I realize this won't help you... but for others who may be wondering...)

What wifi card? What drivers you tried? Did you try deleting the device and then have Windows find it fresh?

winchester73

I presume you already did the obvious thing ... reboot and see if the wifi connection is restored automatically

What networking icon do you see in the task bar?

still nothing! rebooted a million times.
cant find a wifi exe anywhere on HP site
there is no device to delete!

only thing showing is an icon for ethernet cable is missing

I presume you followed the steps in the line Corrine posted earlier.

Settings > Network & Internet

Do you see the Wi-Fi section on the left side?

Fwiw, I also did the Win10 update yesterday, and the WiFi on my old laptop is still working.

No nothing there?? Just an icon for ethernet

What do you mean by icon for ethernet?

Do you see the attached?

If the Wi-Fi tab is missing, it means your wifi card isn't being found, or something is preventing Windows from seeing it.  Sometimes a required service isn't running, or the driver is not compatible with the Windows update.
